WCC Chrome Tron Audi R8

7 04 2011

WCC is unveiling their latest creation the TRON AUDI. The TRON AUDI is the creation of Ryan Friedlinghaus owner of West Coast Customs and Noel Lee of Monster Cable. WCC took a $100,000 Audi R8 and turned it into a futuristic TRON inspired chrome Audi.

“Monster Cable approached me with a vision for a car based off of their new line of products that they created with Daft Punk for the TRON movie.” said Ryan Friedlinghaus CEO of West Coast Customs. “To take this car to the next level we gave it a full chromed paint job. (the first in North America to be done) To give this car the full hi tech TRON look when installed programmable LED’s through out the whole car. We placed them behind the grilles, along the rockers and in the air intakes at back. To make to make the car appear to be floating we took Polycast and made customized see thru wheels lit up by more LED’s. Finishing off the TRON feel we made the seats to look like the TRON suits, we sewn in light panels into the black leather seats. For the audio we added a 3 sub speaker box that lights up with the rest of the car also.”

As for the exterior, if the car looks straight on, the differences are not so many, except for an air intake on the roof that gives a little ‘Need for Speed’. However, if you look back, it’s easy to see that it is not a bat factory. You notice the change exhaust, more prominent, and double to the center.

The interior has been changed by a few elements, but it totally changed the essence. First, apply many of the console have been in the hands of brushed aluminum, which gives it a retro trend (and the bat has nothing retro). What will not you please throughout the world, is the black spots with red trim.

The Ferrambo – Drivers Street Rods

V8  3.6 litros

Body: 60 Nash Rambler

Motor: Ferrari 360

The Ferrambo may not be the greatest name ever, but it serves up a stout 280 points on the Jalopnik scale, and for good reason. How many other tiny, bright red, two door station wagons with a mid-mounted 3.6 L V8 mill out of a Ferrari 360 Modena have you seen lately? Of Course it’s stupidly well built, but the details are really what puts this car over the top.

The builders at Divers Street Rods went so far as to swipe the Ferrari text and use it to call out the car’s name everywhere it was tastefully necessary. Under hood there is custom fitted leather luggage instead of the original wimpy inline 6. The the seats are custom covered buckets and the rear seats… there are no rear seats, only engine.

Here’s something really cool, the rear windows rotate about 5 degrees open with the turn of the ignition to provide a little venting for that beastly engine. Yes indeed, Troy Trepanier may have had a cool car with last years winner, First Love, but this year’s winner is a hell of a lot more Jalopnik in our book. Divers Street Rods.
